Joseph L. Sheridan
March 29, 1939 – July 13, 2017
Joseph L. Sheridan was born in Waltham, Massachusetts. He attended Whittier Elementary and Waltham Junior High before the family moved (in the mid-fifties) to the warmer weather of Gainesville, Florida. He attended Gainesville High and went on to graduate from the University of Florida.
He served a career in the US Navy, retiring in San Diego, having served onboard the USS Antietam (CVS-16), USS Mitcher (DL-2), USS Mills (DER-383), and USS Observation Island (AG-24), along with shore duty on the staff of Commander Fleet Training Group, Hawaii and aide to the President, Board of Inspection and Survey. He worked post-retirement for Computer Sciences Corporation and Davies Realty.
He is survived by his wife and friend of 47 years, Donna, the best mother to our son, Donald, who is married to another wonderful wife and mother, Marsha (nee Brunson), with their wonderful children, Kaitlyn and Jacob. He is also survived by his sister, Jean, and brother, Frank (Kaye).
A memorial service will be held at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, Colorado Springs, Colorado on Thursday, July 20, at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please show your support for a cure for cancer.
