Joseph “Jim” Maez, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1988 and formerly a 30 year resident of San Jose, California, passed away January 10, 2016. He was a service station owner and operator, as well as a United States Army Veteran.
Jim was born on February 25, 1940 to Joseph D. and Emma (DeHerrera) Maez in Salida, Colorado. He married Nancy J. Herring on March 1, 1963 in Reno, Nevada. He loved to work in his yard, fish, bowl, and spend time with his children and beloved grandkids. He was dedicated to his family.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; three daughters: Kelly Homen, Patricia Tahtinen and Debbie Catlin; three sisters: Lucy Jiminez, Elizabeth Maez, Patricia Maestas; ten grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Jamie Maez; one brother, LeRoy; and one sister, Priscilla.
A visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.
