Josephine Katherine Ziegler
Age 92
Born March 17, 1921, this determined, diminutive woman emigrated alone at age 15 from her birthplace in Leoben-Donawitz, Austria to Chicago, Illinois. She taught by her nurturing example her wisdom, humor, humility, courage, loyalty and spiritual faith. She passed to her heavenly reward as she lived, peacefully, with dignity and grace, with family beside her, on October 30, 2013 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Daughter of Josef Weiss and Katherina nee Langus; Sister to Annamaria Schreiber (Peter), Johan (Hansl) Weiss (deceased), Christina Maurer (Christian); Wife of 49 years to Henry Joseph Ziegler (deceased); Mother of five: John Joseph, Henry Richard, Joseph Frederick (Kathleen Anna nee Gray), Peter Franz (deceased), Susan Diane Conis (Christopher); Aunt of four: Christina Elizabeth Gibson (Harold), Wolfgang Peter Schreiber (Sharon nee Kinkley), Dagmar Maurer, Christian Maurer.
She is also the grandmother of nine: Jeffery Alan Ziegler (Phyllis Barbara nee Land), John Joseph Ziegler (Joan nee Fougduro), Jill Ann Griffin (James), Mark Allen Ziegler, Eric Jeffery Ziegler, Steven John Ziegler (Chrysti nee Contreas), Britni Joelle Peters (Jason), Tina Louise Conis, Christopher Joseph Conis; great-grandmother of six: Peter Alan Ziegler, Samantha Ziegler, Emily Griffin, Matthew Griffin, Steven John Ziegler Jr., Jaxon Dane Ziegler. The family extends its love and gratitude to Fred Turner, Josephine and Henry’s close friend for 33 years.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 4 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior in the Chapel. Entombment will follow at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Gate of Heaven.
