Joyce Alexander, 81 years old, passed away on September 12, 2013. She was a resident of Colorado Springs for 44 years. Joyce was formerly a resident in Maryland and as a military wife traveled throughout the U.S. And Overseas.
Joyce Alexander was born on September 26, 1931 to Paul Chester Brown and Mary (Kim).
Joyce was quite accomplished as a soprano, poet, painter, ceramic artist, art teacher, pianist and cook. She also wrote and illustrated children’s books. Joyce created a non-profit organization called Friends of Animals and set up one of the first spay and neuter clinics in Colorado Springs. She attended college at Kansas State University.
She is survived by her children: Sandra Roebuck, Douglas Roebuck, Karen Terbeek, and Susan Roebuck; her grandchildren: Christopher, Kyndle, Essie, Shaina, Samuel, Lily, and her great grandchildren: Roman and Logan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary and by her oldest daughter, Leslie Dare Nickle.
