Joyce Irene Doerffel, age 82, a lifelong resident of Colorado, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at a local care center. She was a homemaker, and loving mother.
Joyce Gimlin was born on December 16, 1930 in Colorado Springs to the late Denver Bryant and Faye Anna (Robertson) Gimlin. She was raised in Canon City, and had also lived in Grand Lake and other Colorado mountain towns. Joyce attended Colorado Springs High School and graduated from Monte Vista High School. Joyce and Ed also lived briefly in Washington D.C. and Norfolk, Virginia. She loved the mountains and enjoyed studying and sharing the history of Colorado.
She is survived by her sons: Michael (wife, Margaret) Park; Ed (wife, Kris) Doerffel Jr. of Colorado Springs; and David (wife, Ann) Doerffel of Warmister, Pennsylvania. She has four grandchildren and a brother, Dennis Gimlin of Canon City, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Edwin E. Doerffel, Sr.; her daughter: Deborah F. Park Meikleham; and a brother.
Private memorial services are planned at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum.
