Juanita H. Bustamante
Juanita H. Bustamante, age 65, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1969 and formerly of Taos, New Mexico, and Ogden, Utah, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013 at a local hospital following complications after surgery. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Juanita Helena Olguin was born on March 25, 1948 to the late Luciano and Andrea (Santestivan) Olguin. She was a graduate of Taos High School and married Jerry I. Bustamante on December 28, 1968 in Ogden, Utah. She was from a family of mothers, attended the LDS church, and will be best remembered for her love of family, kids, and grandkids. She enjoyed cooking, talking on the phone, camping, and the great outdoors of Colorado. She was a woman of love, generosity, and compassion who took in the homeless and helped raise the children of others.
She is survived by her husband: Jerry of Colorado Springs; and her four children: Michael “Mikey” Bustamante of Santa Rosa, California; Gerri “Sissie” Bustamante (Mark Medina) of Colorado Springs; Andre “Dre” (Tricia) Bustamante of Pueblo, Colorado; and Timothy “Timmy” (Erica) Bustamante of Colorado Springs. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Dulce “Duce,” Andre Jr. “Tonka,” Estevan, Sonrisa “Isa,” Bellissima “Bella,” and Diego “Eggo”; and her great-grandson: Andrew “No Mas Pantalones.”
She is also survived by her siblings: Sally Gallegos, Frances Olguin, Grace Olguin, Julia Martinez, Rita Martinez, Pete Olguin, and Linda Gallegos; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She will be greeted in heaven by her parents; her brothers: Carlos, Ramundo “Sonny,” and Herman; and her sister, Christina.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Entombment will follow at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Garden of Angels. A luncheon reception will then be held.
