Julia Mynett of Colorado Springs, passed away on September 26th, 2022. She was 72 years old. After a battle with cancer and surrounded by loved ones, her fight was over.
Julia was born May 10th, 1950. She was an independent free spirit that loved music and teaching music. She began teaching flute before graduating high school. She went on to study at University of Denver earning her bachelor’s degree in music education in 1972 and a master’s degree in music in 1977. She taught music for over 50 years, influencing other passionate musicians with the love of music, many of whom went on to musical education careers themselves. Many of her students over her lifetime would reach out to Julia with love and appreciation of the special inspirational love of music Julia had instilled in them. She was very involved with playing the flute in numerous flute choir groups.
Julia is survived by her sister Sally and her brother John. She has 3 children Alex, Amanda, and Aaron. She has three beautiful grandchildren Cierra, Logan, and Russell.
Her memorial service will be held October 15 at 2:00 p.m. at First Congregational Church, with a reception following in the Founder’s Room.
Her love and inspiration will never be forgotten.
