Kathleen “Kay” McClellan, age 77, passed away on February 13, 2024, in Colorado Springs, CO. Kathleen was born in Greenfield, IA, the third child of Leo and Mildred Schaefer. Her family moved to Gunnison, CO when she was nine years old, where she graduated from Gunnison High School in 1964. After graduation, she attended Western Slope Beauty College. She moved to Colorado Springs for work as a beautician, where she met and married the love of her life, Carl McClellan. They were married for over 50 years and raised four children.
Kathleen spent 50 years as a beautician. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, spending time with friends and family, and cheering on the Denver Broncos. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Cathedral and enjoyed giving back, including as a Stephen Minister.
Kathleen is survived by her brother, Larry Schaefer; her sister, Cheryl Darnell; her children: Angela McClellan of Parker, CO, Jeff (Karen) McClellan of Concord, NH, Sean (Beth) McClellan of Colorado Springs, and Scott (Erin) McClellan of Terre Haute, IN; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her parents; and brother, Stephen Schaefer.
A visitation will be at 1:00pm Monday, February 19, 2024, with a Funeral Service following at 2:00pm at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910. Entombment will be at Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Court of David. A reception will be held at Patty Jewett Golf Club, 900 E Espanola St, Colorado Springs, CO 80907 after the service.
