Kathryn passed away on October 22, 2021 in Colorado Springs, CO.
She was born on September 18, 1957 in New Orleans, LA to Roy Wilson McCoy, Jr. and Dorothy Lydia Corcoran McCoy. Kathryn, her parents, and brother, Kevin Lewis McCoy, lived in the New Orleans and Baton Rouge areas. Kathryn graduated from Louisiana State University and eventually moved to Colorado Springs. There she met and married David Russell. They were married for over 30 years and had one son, Travis Russell.
She was a volunteer member of the Black Forest Fire Department and volunteered with Team Rubicon. She worked for the El Paso County Office of Emergency Management and eventually shifted to working as a Public Information Officer with the Rocky Mountain Incident Management Blue Team. Kathryn also enjoyed playing the flute and was part of the Pikes Peak Flute Choir for many years and the New Horizons Band of Colorado Springs.
Kathryn is survived by her husband, son, brother, aunts, nieces, and cousins.
