Kyle Reid Carlson, beloved son of Kent and Carole (Hutchinson) Carlson, passed away on November 19, 2023. He was born on March 26, 1981, in Houston, Texas. After his first year as a Texan, Colorado Springs became his home.
Kyle graduated from Cheyenne Mountain High School where he was a member of the tennis and baseball teams. He went on to attend and graduate from James Madison University with a degree in Computer Science. While at JMU he was a member of Alpha Kappa Lamda fraternity and attended the University of Wollongong in Australia for a semester. Later pursuing his education, he received a master’s certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from the University of Denver. He held various positions relating to his fields of study that required travel throughout the United States and abroad.
Kyle loved the Colorado lifestyle, being in the mountains skiing, camping, and riding ATVs. He treasured spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Kyle is survived by aunts and uncles: Alton and Tommye Carlson, Doris and Dick Alvord, and Cindy and Gary Weise; and cousins: Jane (Tom) Ponder, and Ashley (Kyle) Cirac. His cousin, Craig Alvord preceded him in death. Bear, his rescue dog, was his constant companion.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00PM, on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Broadmoor Community Church, 315 Lake Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80906.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Kyle’s name may be made to Broadmoor Community Church or to an animal rescue organization of choice.
