September 3, 1958 – August 14, 2024

Laura Jean Hauge, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away peacefully on August 14, 2024, surrounded by her family following a hemorrhagic stroke and subsequent heart attack which left her in an unrecoverable coma.

Born on September 3, 1958, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Laura grew up in Boulder, Colorado. She attended Boulder High School, graduating in 1976. Following graduation, she earned her teaching degree from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1980. She would go on to be an elementary school teacher and substitute.

In 1977, Laura married her first husband of 31 years, Bert Wright, and from their partnership their daughter KJ was born. Following the death of Laura’s parents, William and Jaquelyn, she caringly raised her then teenage brothers. Minus a two-year period in Austria, the family lived together in Colorado between Boulder and Highlands Ranch, up until they moved to Fredericksburg, Virginia, in 2004.

Laura married her second husband, Robert Hauge, in 2012. They spent the first years of their marriage living in Colorado Springs and raising their kids: Ashley, Dan, and Aaron. In 2020, pursuing their shared dream, Laura and Robert purchased property outside Pagosa Springs. Together they worked to turn 80 acres into Peregrine Vista Ranch, a gathering place for friends and family alike. Laura’s daily life up there involved attending to her garden and caring for the animals (bees, goats, sheep, chickens, and cats). Peregrine Vista was and always shall be the eternal resting place for Laura’s soul. From her resting place, atop a hill, she will remain present as her dreams for the property progress. Forever will she remain a part of the family and the land she devoted her heart and soul to.

Laura is survived by her husband Robert; ex-husband Bert; children: KJ (husband Jason), Ashley (husband Killian), Daniel (with his old-lady Libby), and Aaron (with his person Maddy); grandsons Zebadiah (10) and Thaddeus (5); brothers, Roland (wife Amy) and James (wife Tiffany); nieces and nephew: Alex, Charlotte, Sofie, and Ellie; and those to which she was their “other mom”: Jim, Megan, and David.

Laura first and foremost had a desire to inspire and encourage people, be it as a mother, grandmother or teacher. Her legacy lives on through the lives she influenced, especially the impact she has had on her children and grandchildren, the love she had for others, and the memories she created. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service to celebrate Laura’s life will be held in the World Prayer Center at New Life Church in Colorado Springs on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 1:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to construct a multigenerational memorial structure on the property she loved which will be her final resting place; donations can be made at the memorial service (preferred) or at https://everloved.com/memorial/laura-hauge/.
