Laurence “Larry” Leroy McDanel, Sr. was born September 29, 1950 in Sioux Rapids, Iowa to Galen and Vera McDanel.
Larry is survived by his wife, Priscilla; his children, Michelle Perea (Rich), Laurence, Jr. (Stephanie), and Lana Lewis (Justin); his grandchildren, Stachea, Frank, Richie, Maria, David, Mercedes, Isabella, Taya, Justice, Jadyn, Mason; his great-grandchildren, Augustin, Ellianah, Camilo, Frankie, Avalia, Audin; his sister, Ruth; his brother, Butch (Chris); his sister, Cherish (Ben).
He was preceded in death by his father, Galen; his mother, Vera; and his siblings, Anita, Joan, Jean, Rolty, Vera, Bill, and Mary.
Larry proudly served in the United States Air Force for twenty years. He retired in December of 1989.
Services will be held on Tuesday, April 18, at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910. Viewing at 9am, Service at 10am. Burial at 12pm at Pikes Peak National Cemetery; full military honors. Reception to follow.

Larry will be missed by many. I remember meeting him back in the mid to late 80’s on the softball field with the Gaber and then worked for him at the Base Post Office for a few years. A great man, husband, grandfather and brother. i know i was a better person for have known him than not. God Bless All. Rest easy my friend.

As I was trying to think of something to say, I thought of this saying:
Tears are God’s gift to us. Our holy water. They heal us as they flow.
