Leeann Lewis-McKeever of Colorado Springs, CO. died on August 16, 2019, following a brief illness. She was 74 years old.
Leeann was born on February 3, 1945, in Harrisburg, IL. to Drewloid and Rosie May Brigs. She always took a special delight in the 2-3-45 numerical sequence representing her birthday.
Leeann, following the early deaths of her parents, was adopted and raised by an elder sister Donis and her husband Norman. Leeann graduated from Indianapolis, IN., Crispus Attucks High School (Class of 63). Her marriage with USAF Veteran, Marvin Lewis (71-90), was blessed with two daughters, Christel and Rhonda.
Leeann was a graduate of Marygrove College and found her calling teaching 3rd and 4th Grade at Carsten’s Elementary School in Detroit, MI.
Leeann relocated in 2006 to live with her daughters in Colorado Springs, CO. There, on November 8, 2008, an Aerospace Engineer named Martin McKeever, had the blessed good fortune of accidentally blocking her parking space. They were married at the Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church on June 19, 2012.
Leeann was preceded in death by her parents, sister Delores, and brother Emmet. She is survived by her sisters Donis, Doris and Imogene, current husband, Martin, ex-husband Marvin, her daughters Christel and Rhonda, and her grandsons Roman, Timothy, Julian, Zion, and granddaughters Zipporah and Nyla.
A “Celebration-of-Life” memorial service will be held at 3PM at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., on August 30, 2019.
