Leona R. Garduno
Leona R. Garduno, a resident of Colorado Springs for 75 years, went home to be with the Lord on July 3, 2014. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was born on September 7, 1923 to Gregorio and Feliz (Atencio) Duran in Tres Piedras, New Mexico. She married Lloyd J. Garduno on October 23, 1943 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She worked as an electronics assembly worker until her retirement.
She is survived by her son, Leonard Garduno of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her daughters: Phyllis DeSalvo of Denver, Colorado, and Vickie Schneider of Lexington, South Carolina; three sisters: Sally Sanchez of San Antonio, Texas, Emily Mathis of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Lola Tursi of Hanover, New Jersey; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 22 West Kiowa Street. Entombment will be private and will take place at Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Garden of Angels.
