Leonard Eugene Jones, 77, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018. He was a resident of Colorado Springs for 35 years and was formerly a resident of Three Rivers, MI. He was an entrepreneur and owned various businesses in Colorado Springs including The Doodler.
Len was born on October 24, 1940 to Eugene William and Ellen Anne Frances (Wine) Jones in Elkhart, IN. On September 16, 1962 he married Judith Kay Maier in Elkhart, IN. He later attended Tri-State College and graduated in 1968. He served in the United States Army for 3 years.
Len was a model train enthusiast, working and maintaining his model railroad tracks, building and designing layouts (he built a tree on his layout with each of his grandchildren); and enjoyed reading a good western. Len shared his passion for the railroad with his family, often taking them on train rides throughout Colorado.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judith Kay Jones; his children: Lori Jene Wood, Ann Renee Fletcher and her husband, Donald Lee Fletcher; his grandchildren: Savanna Jene Fletcher, Jessica Lee Whelehan-Throw and her husband, Casidhe Francis Whelehan-Throw, Alexis Nicole Fletcher, Jorden Jon Fletcher and Kayla Marie Wood; and his great-grandchild, Arden Craig Fritz.
A memorial service celebrating Len’s life will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 10 am to 11 am at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel.

24 Aug 2018Will always remember going to Chama, New Mexico to spend a week camping with Uncle Len and Aunt Judy, and visiting the train yard. He’ll be missed. Rest in peace, Uncle Len.
