Lewis was born at Victor City Hospital in Victor, Colorado on April 27, 1927. He died April 27, 2017.
As one of seven children he grew up on a ranch in Teller County.
He served in the US Army for 10 years after high school. He graduated from Santa Maria Junior College with an Associate in Arts degree. He resided in Colorado Springs upon return from the Army, was active in Junior Achievement and was a building contractor by trade.
He enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, the mountains and the outdoors. He was well known for his story telling.
He loved the Lord and served at Cragmor Christian Reformed Church.
He is survived by his wife, June; his sister, Nellie; his son, Jeff; two step-daughters, Karen and Becky; a foster daughter, Jamie; four grandchildren: Kandice (Joe), Beth (Randall), Aaron and Ethan; two great grandchildren: Stephanie (Justin) and Cole; six great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is being held on May 6, 2017 at 5:00 PM at Cragmor Christian Reformed Church, 1225 Acacia Dr., Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80907. Memorial gifts may be sent to the church.
