Liane H. Bettinger, age 90, a resident of Colorado Springs for over 50 years, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2013 at a local care center.
Liane Herta Seidel was born on September 6, 1922 in Plauen, Germany to the late Kurt and Herta (Nietsche) Seidel. She married Howard P. Bettinger in March of 1946 in Germany. During Howard’s career in the United States Air Force, they lived in many places around the world, including Germany and Okinawa. After settling in Colorado Springs, Liane worked as a director at a local senior center. She loved what she did, and was very much appreciated by the residents as well.
In her spare time, Liane belonged to a bridge club and enjoyed her time playing cards with friends and teaching bridge at the senior center. She will be best remembered for being a “fighter.”
Liane is survived by a sister-in-law, Lena Seidel of Mahopac, New York; two nieces: Kristine (husband, Bob) Cuomo of Mahopac, New York; and Doreen (husband, Tom) Molloy of Palm Harbor Florida. She is also survived by three great-nieces, two great-nephews, and numerous great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard in 1999; her parents; and a brother, Kurt Seidel.
Funeral Services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior in the chapel. Entombment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Gate of Heaven.
