Linda, 73, entered into eternity with her Savior at St. Francis Hospital, in Colorado Springs, CO. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy McGee (Jim) of Colorado Springs, CO, and son, Matthew Beckett (Sharon) of Epping, NH. She is also survived by grandson Kelly, granddaughters Lydia, Audrey, and Sarah, her sister Judy Ballard of Lakewood, CO, her brother, Larry Wisecup of Lyons, CO, and many nieces, nephews, and brothers- and sisters-in Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother, and a nephew.
Linda was born in Longmont, CO, to Serretta Elizabeth (Betty) and Marion Albert Wisecup. She grew up in Longmont, graduating from Longmont High School in 1967. While in high school, Linda was an avid member of the music department, performing as Maria Von Trapp in her senior year musical. She married her high school sweetheart, Frank Beckett, in 1967, starting their family the following year. After starting her career in banking, Linda went on to earn her A.A. degree in Accounting in 1987 as well as her B.S. degree in Business Administration/Accounting in 1993 with the distinction of summa cum laude. Her attention to detail afforded her opportunities to work with banks and businesses, as well as 10 years with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL).
Church-life was always important to Linda, whether singing in the choir, accompanying others on piano, or leading Vacation Bible School at First Christian Church (now LifeBridge Christian Church in Longmont), helping to plant a church in Susanville, CA, or returning to the choir at her new home of Academy Christian Church in Colorado Springs, CO. She and Frank twice volunteered with Greater Europe Mission, joining a trip to Estonia and leading a group to Ireland. Consistently, they lived out their faith in their daily life, specifically investing in people needing a “second chance.”
Linda and Frank raised their family between the towns of Longmont, CO and Livermore, CA before retiring to Eagle Lake near Susanville, CA. Shortly after Frank’s death in 2016, Linda moved to Colorado Springs, CO.
Linda will forever be remembered for her lovely singing, beautifully crocheted gifts, quick wit, great giggle, tender heart, love of family, and love of /reliance upon God.
A memorial service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Academy Christian Church Northside, 1635 Old Ranch Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80908. A private burial will take place in Grandview Cemetery in Fort Collins, Colorado.
