Linda J. Smith, age 74, passed away peacefully in her own home on March 20, 2024, with her loving husband and best friend, Mike, by her side.
Lin was a Colorado native, born January 13, 1950. She loved Dr Pepper, IHOP pancakes, volleyball, country dancing (especially with her brother, Jeff), old western movies, genealogy, tending to flowers in her yard, and chatting with friends and family. She was very fond of animals, but golden retrievers seemed to steal her heart.
She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Mike; her son, Shawn (Ellen) Carpenter; her stepson, Nick (Tabitha) Smith; her stepdaughter, Pamela (Yilmaz) Altusoy; her stepdaughter, Diana Davis; and her brother, Jeff (Annie) Carpenter; her grandchildren: Amanda (Nathan), Justin (Donna), Jared (Chelsea), and Joel; and five great-grandchildren.
Lin was preceded in death by her parents: Floyd and Edna Carpenter; sister, Sandy Bertram; and brother, Stephan Carpenter.
A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00PM, Thursday, March 28, 2024. A Funeral Service will be held the following day at 10:00AM, Friday, March 29, 2024, at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. Interment will be held immediately following the service at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910.
