Lois Blackwell
Lois Blackwell, age 83, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1941 and formerly of Nebraska, passed away on September 11, 2013 at her home. She was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Lois Elane McDowell was born on September 20, 1929 in Cozad, Nebraska to the late Guy and Pauline (Brownfield) McDowell. She was a 1947 graduate of Colorado Springs High School. She married Jack Blackwell on January 22, 1950 in Colorado Springs. She was involved with the County Outreach for volunteers in El Paso County, the Pikes Peak Whittlers, the Campfire Girls, and the Good Sam’s Club.
She is survived by her two daughters: Sally (husband, Ed) Keemer of Colorado Springs; and Julia McDowell of Colorado Springs. She has four grandchildren: Tate and Michael Yeater, and Scott and Mark Yorkston. She has eleven great-grandchildren.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack in 2007, a brother, Bill McDowell, and a sister, Jane Bloor.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Cremation is planned.
