On the morning of January 16, 2021, Lois Marie Roscoe of Colorado Springs, Colorado was peacefully released to God’s care at the age of 92.
Lois was born in Iowa City, Iowa on May 04, 1928 to Margret Umtilla Quackenbush and William Washington Frink. Shortly after birth she was adopted by James Lloyd Zickefoose and Gladys Zickefoose and grew up in Olds, Iowa where the family resided. On October 18, 1946 Lois married Francis (Frank) Roscoe and for many years they owned and operated a small grocery store in Olds, Iowa. Throughout their years together they moved several times within the state of Iowa.
Lois was fond of good food and fine accessorizing of her apparel. She never met a stranger from Iowa, often embarrassing her family, wherever they were, by talking to anyone with an Iowa or Hawkeye logo on. Family meant everything to her. As an adult she became very curious about her biological family and with a few clues, set out to find them. She was ecstatic when she located many of her family members and even happier to come full circle to be welcomed with open arms to them. Lois was a member of the Methodist faith and attended school in Olds, Iowa
She is survived by her adult children: Michael (Linda) Long, Diane (Thom) McKoon; grandchildren: Chris Long, Kimberly (Scott) Van Meter, Tonya (Richard) McWilliams, Teresa (Jack) Dempsey, Sean (Kelly) McKoon, Justin (Amy) McKoon; great-grandchildren: Kristofer McKoon, Kilie Dempsey, Katie McWilliams, Elizabeth McWilliams, Aiden McKoon, Beckett McKoon, Cohen McKoon; and many Vinton relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
