Lorain M. Gonzalez, 86, peacefully passed away on September 20, 2016. She was a Colorado Springs resident for 66 years. Lorain dedicated her life to her family and home, and to all her puppies and pets she rescued.
Lorain was born on February 1, 1930 to Floyd and Ona (Riggins) Purcell in Fruita, Colorado. On February 21, 1948 she married Pete Gonzalez in Montrose, Colorado.
Lorain was very fond of her dogs, her beautiful gardens and her home. She was a very dedicated mother and grandmother. She belonged to the Colorado Extension Club, PTA and later in life to a senior center “Jug Band” called “The Mountain Mama’s”. She attended school in Grand Junction, Colorado.
She is survived by her two children: Dan (Lanlan) Gonzalez and Tanya (Todd) Soens; grandchildren: Jason (Kristin) Gonzalez, Jonathan (Lana) Gonzalez, Michael Gonzalez, Christopher (Megan) Houtchens, Tawnie Forsythe and Amy (Mike) Mullally as well as her great-grandchildren: Trevor Gonzalez, Josh Gonzalez, Nathan Gonzalez, Natalie Gonzalez, Nevon Gonzalez, Aydan Houtchens, Brooke Forsythe, Sarah Forsythe and Dylan Mullally. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Pete Gonzalez and her son, Terry Gonzalez.
A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Private inurnment will take place in the Garden of Angels Mausoleum at the Shrine of Remembrance.
