Lore E. Spurgeon, 82, of Colorado Springs, passed away on January 20, 2016. Lore was born on March 29, 1933 in Heidelberg, Germany to the late Arthur and Elisa (Eckel) Hebäcker. After graduating high school, Lore met Orval Spurgeon while he was stationed in Germany with the United States Army. She moved to Colorado Springs and they were married at Fort Carson in 1954. They were married for 28 years.
Lore was a wonderful homemaker and seamstress as well as a devoted and loving mother. She enjoyed cross-stitching, bike riding and spending time with her family and friends. Lore was extremely proud of obtaining her United States citizenship in 1956.
Lore is survived by her son, Richard (Tammy) Spurgeon; daughter, Loretta (Bill) Adams; grandchildren: Erin (J.J.) Dunn, Jennifer Spurgeon and (Spencer Maloch), Jason (Aryn) Spurgeon, Roxy Simanski and (John Wood), Kelsey (Levi) Pollard, Sgt. Daniel Simanski, USMC, Ashley Adams and (Geo Dixon, Jr.), and Elisa Adams. She is also survived by her sister, Emmy Proctor; nephews: Jerry Proctor, Gary Proctor; eight great grandchildren and a few relatives still living in Germany today.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. Private interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery.
