Lorene Kay Swanson passed away February 20, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 22, 1925 in Greeley County, Kansas to John and Elizabeth Pfeifer. She met the love of her life, John, in a restaurant and later married in Raton New Mexico.
Lorene had several hobbies such as reading, but her family was the center of her life. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She dedicated herself to being a mother and a homemaker. If there was anything her children needed she was there to make sure that those needs were meet. Her family is greatly saddened by the loss of their mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Lorene was preceded in death by her parents: John and Elizabeth, two brothers: Benny and Edward, two sisters: Severine and Arlene, her son: Steven, and two granddaughters: La-Shonne and Lisa.
Lorene is survived by her sons: Kenneth and Gerald (Linda); daughter: Kelly (Mike) Putnam; grandchildren: Ryan, Sydney, Cyrus, Lynette, Lynn Marie; her great grandchildren: Samantha Jo, Nikole, Michael, Ryder; great great-grandchildren: Aeva, Jaxin, Kaia; her brothers: William (Mary) Pfeifer and Clarence (Carole) Pfeifer; and her sisters: Helen Messersmith, Therese (Leon) Beedy, Alice Shaefer, and Lucille (Bob) Mann.
A Memorial Service will be held 10 am Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd.
