Louise A. Smith
Born May 24, 1936. Died Dec. 13, 2015.
Louise Smith, a long time resident of Colorado Springs, was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
In 1953 she graduated head of her class in Montrose, South Dakota and received her business degree from The University of Denver in 1957.
In 1964 Louise married her best friend and lifetime companion, John Smith. They traveled for the first few years as John pursued his ragtime piano playing career.
In 1968 Louise and John began a 36-year career in the restaurant and catering business. As the owners of Capn John’s, they developed a reputation for providing wonderful cuisine. Louise received multiple awards for her unique food creations.
In 2003 Louise was able to retire and enjoy traveling with her husband across the United States in their RV. She was an avid reader and enjoyed attending her Red Hat and senior functions.
She is preceded in death by her son, Johnny Smith Jr.; and by her husband, John Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Rosanna Smith; her brothers: Geoffrey Edmunds, and Terry Pixley; and grandchildren: Payton Trujillo-Smith, and Shane Trujillo-Smith.
Her wonderful cooking and her laugh will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on January 9, 2016 at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home.
