Lourdes “Rita” Maez, 79, born in Leadville, Colorado, on June 4, 1945, departed on June 29, 2024. Rita was full of life, mischievousness, wisdom and guidance. She was blessed with a laugh that would fill up a room and will be greatly missed.
Rita has joined her father and mother, Felipe and Florinda Maez; her son, Eddie Timothy Martinez; her brothers: Juan, Ted, Ray, Elmer, Ernest, Timothy, and Joseph; along with her sister, Josephine, who have all passed on.
Rita leaves behind her children: Rudy Martinez (wife, Luann), Diane Martinez, Donna Abeyta (husband, Roger Abeyta); ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren who will continue her legacy and respect her wishes in celebrating her life.
A memorial service in honor of Rita will be held at 10:00AM, on Friday, July 26, 2024, at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. Reception to follow from 12:00-4:00PM at Meadows Park Community Center, 1943 South El Paso Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80905.
