Command Sergeant Major Luther E. Day

Command Sergeant Major Luther E. Day died July 22, 2013 in Colorado Springs. Luther was born on June 5, 1926 in Prosperity, Pennsylvania. He entered military service in October of 1944.
Luther was preceded in death by his parents: Daniel Clayton and Edith Day; his two sisters: Irene and Jayne; and one brother: Reed. He is survived by his loving wife, Hermine (Hermi); and three children: Patricia, Kenneth (wife, Donna) and Daniel; five grandchildren: Devin, Sarah, Tanner, Dylan, and Jessica; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Luther was a highly decorated veteran of World War II, and two tours in the Vietnam Conflict. He retired from the military in July of 1973, when he moved to Colorado Springs to begin his second career in banking.
Luther was an avid skier, golfer, and outdoorsman. He cherished his time with his family, especially the yearly vacations to South Padre Island, Texas. He also enjoyed traveling the world with the love of his life, Hermi.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel.
