Lyle Eugene VanHorn, age 95, a longtime resident of Colorado Springs, was called to the Lord on Monday, January 8, 2018. He was born to Robert and Virginia VanHorn on December 10, 1922 in Ashby, Nebraska. He was a 1943 graduate of Broken Bow High School. He married Lucille Catherine Ryan on August 6, 1943 in Broken Bow. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and good friend. Lyle is a United States military veteran and he served in the Army during WWII. He was always a hard worker. After 30 years, Lyle retired from Sears Roebuck and Co. He was a selfless, loving man with a great sense of humor. He was always great at making everyone laugh. Family was the most important thing to him and family gatherings were always very memorable times for him.

Lyle was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Lucille C. Van Horn; and two brothers. He is survived by his five sons: John (Peggy) of Aurora, Colorado; Jerry (Fabiola), Jeff (Lori), Jay (Laura), and Joel (Silvia) all of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two daughters, Joan (Howard) Mayer of Florissant, Colorado and Janice (Paul) Bennett of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and a sister, Iola Pederson of Broken Bow, Nebraska. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 12:00–1:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 1:00 p.m. at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs. A Mass will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2018 at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, 926 Farragut Avenue, Colorado Springs. A reception will follow the Mass at Patty Jewett Golf Course, 900 East Espanola Street, Colorado Springs.
