Mabel Louise Mayo – Shoemaker
January 9th, 1930 – August 26th, 2012
Mabel Louise Mayo-Shoemaker, age 82, passed away on August 26, 2012 at a local care center. She was a long time employee of Hewlett Packard – Agilent Technologies where she retired. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.
Mabel was born on January 9, 1930 in Port Lavaca, Texas to Ernest and Ethel (Hutchens) Hatfield.
She enjoyed singing with the Fountain Valley Seniors group “The Harmonizers” and loved to Karaoke. When she retired she loved to travel with the seniors group and had a passion for watching the Broncos play on TV. She was a devoted Air Force wife and loving mother who made home wherever the next duty station found her family.
She is survived by her three sons: Dewayne (wife, Ellen) Mayo of Security; Don Michael Mayo of Colorado Springs; and Jerry Mayo of Aurora, Colorado. She has four grandchildren: Jennifer, Amanda, Joshua, and Kiley. She is also survived by her sister: Judy Hogg of Henderson, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister: Mary Langton; her brother: Elmer Hatfield; and her first husband: Herman Percy Mayo.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. Funeral services are planned for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Cremation is planned and her cremains will be scattered at the Shrine of Remembrance Rose Gardens.
