Madeline Louise Allen passed away on March 2, 2019 at Laurel Manor Care Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Madeline was a resident of Colorado Springs for over seventy years. When asked about her occupation she would say, “I am a mother, isn’t that enough?”
Madeline was born April 25, 1923 in Wichita, Kansas to Leslie James Drury, and Katherine Marie (Schmidt) Drury. She married Donald Lee Allen on December 25, 1944 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
“Maddie” always loved flowers and flower gardening. She always stopped to smell the flowers. “Babe” also loved to read. She always had a stack of books nearby. It was not uncommon for her to read a book in a day.
Madeline was preceded in death by Donald, her husband of over sixty years. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Lois Lee Powell, whom she loved to visit in Bothell, Washington.
Madeline is survived by her children: Donna Lee Allen and Michael (Elaine) Allen. Madeline is also survived by two grandchildren: Wendy (Jody) Staples, and Christy Allen. She also has five great grandchildren: Kenneth Nenning, James Staples, Nathan Staples, Jacob Nenning, and Aaron Staples.
