Marcene Marlys Dewberry passed away August 3, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born to Ernest and Rena (Dirksen) Jacobson at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on October 26, 1944.

In 1962 Marcene graduated from Lennox High School, South Dakota. She was married to Darold Haddican in December 1964. To this union 2 children were born, Jon Haddican and Karla (Haddican) Holloway.

She worked at Cambell’s Soup in Worthington, Minnesota. The family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in January 1970. Marcene got her legal secretarial degree and worked many years in the insurance industry. She joined Redeemer Lutheran Church in 1979 and both children were enrolled in school there.

In October 1981 she married Robert Dewberry. Marcene worked 23 years at Compassion International, retiring in 2012. She was part of Beta Sigma Phi – service sorority for several years.

She enjoyed reading and visiting friends and family. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1996, her mother in 2012; and her husband, Robert in 2018.

Marcene is survived by her children: Jon (Nancy) Haddican of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Karla (Haddican) Holloway of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren: Thaddeus Haddican, Samuel (Carmen Lopez) Haddican, Mel Ruano all of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Jessica (Iesha Amaya) Holloway, and Jazmin (Jay Brooks) Holloway; great-grandchildren: Za’Niyah, Zyan, Zayden Holloway all of Colorado Springs, Colorado; siblings: Larry (Barb) Jacobson of Tea, South Dakota, Joyce Jacobson, Marlyn (Marilyn) Jacobson, and Paul (Ruth) Jacobson all of Lennox, South Dakota, Elaine (Robert) Gereaux of Yankton, South Dakota; sister-in-law, Betty (Dewberry) Jackson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; former husband, Darold Haddican of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service in honor of Marcene will be held at 2:00PM, on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2226 North Corona Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907.
