Marci Ann Johnson, 58, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Friday, August 16, 2019.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd.
Marci was born on July 10, 1961, to Gary and Deanne Johnson. In Pensacola, Florida.
Marci was born in a Navy Hospital at Pensacola, Florida, to the sound of the Blue Angels’ jet engines roaring overhead. She was born with special needs and her resilient spirit converted what most would consider a disability into a triumphant source of strength. She never met a person she did not consider her friend, and who was not invited to her birthday. She was blessed with a lifelong child-like disposition and she reveled in playing video games, checkers, Star Wars as well as giving and receiving gifts. Always authentic, Marci was not constrained by the niceties of convention and conformity. As such, she was always exactly who she was, never a construct of who she ought to be. She was fearlessly friendly, outgoing, and always enthusiastic about any celebration.
Marci is survived by her parents, of Broomfield Colorado; her brothers, James, William, Peter and David Matthew; Nieces and nephews, Harmony, Adam, Alec, Lucy, Evelyn, Isaac and Henry. Special thanks to her caretaker and friend, Joe Johnson.
I want to sing like the birds sing
Not worrying about
Who hears or what
They think
