Margaret “Margie” Ann Taylor, age 71, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011. She was a retired elementary school teacher who had worked for District 11 for 21 years.
Margie was born on September 12, 1940 in Houston, Texas to Robert and Connie (Roberts) Jones. She graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She married Donald Taylor on June 24, 2000 at First Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Margie was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs and was active in the Going Concern and the New Horizons Sunday school classes. She ministered as a volunteer for the soup kitchen, participated in the Grief Workshop and facilitated at the Divorce Recovery Workshop. She also volunteered at the Humane Society and enjoyed attending The Bridge Center.
She was a family oriented, caring, loving strong-willed woman. She was outgoing and had many friends. She fought an amazing battle against ovarian cancer for nearly 3 years.
She is survived by her children: Vicki (husband Curtis) Spacek and Darren (wife Denia) Ferguson; her stepchildren: Luke (wife Nancy) Taylor, Mark (wife Jennifer) Taylor, and Louise Taylor; and 7 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Taylor; her parents: Robert Jones and Connie Dunlap; and a son, Robert “Bobby” Ferguson.
A Memorial Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church, 219 East Bijou Street. A reception will follow the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a charitable cause of your choice.
