Margaret Mary “Judy” Artman died Monday, April 13, 2015, at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, surrounded by her family.
She was born Oct. 11, 1939, to James and Catherine (House) Kelly in Omaha, Neb. She was born and raised in Omaha, attended Catholic schools there and worked for Mutual of Omaha.
Mrs. Artman married John “Jack” Artman on Sept. 29, 1962. They had three daughters: Kelli, Randi and Teri. A military family, they lived in several states before retiring in Colorado Springs in 1978. After moving there, she worked for several years for Montgomery Ward and Co.
She was a long-time parishioner at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, where she assisted with the environment committee. She also loved to read, make crafts and sew. She sold her crafts at fairs throughout Colorado Springs with her middle daughter.
She is survived by her husband Jack of Colorado Springs; daughters Kelli Hoglin of Anchorage, Alaska; Randi Artman of Colorado Springs; and Teri (Joseph) Erickson of Rocky Ford, Colorado. Other survivors include her grandchildren Jaime (Edward) Finch of Wasilla, Alaska; Richard K. Hoglin of Anchorage; Christina Hoglin of Anchorage; great-grandchildren Halle, Layla, R.J., Mason, Jaxon, Samora and Jadeon; her brother John “Jack” Kelly of Omaha; sister-in-law Margaret “Marge” Kelly of Raymore, Missouri; several in-laws, nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Lucy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Gerald “Jerry” Kelly and her granddaughter Barbara Artman.
A viewing is planned at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 East Fountain Blvd., on Friday, April 17, from 5-7 p.m. It will be followed by a rosary at 7 p.m.
The funeral mass will take place at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 4925 N. Carefree Circle, on Saturday, April 18, at 10 a.m., with a reception immediately afterward.
A private entombment will take place at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in her name to the Holy Apostles Catholic Church Rectory Building Fund.
