Margaret Mary “Peggy” Kelly, a Colorado Springs resident since 1964, passed away Monday, April 25, 2022.
She was born July 1, 1935 to Paul Coshun and Catherine (Holder) Coshun in Johnstown, Pennsylvania and graduated from Midland High School in Midland, Michigan. She married C.C. Kelly on January 24, 1955 in Clarksdale, Mississippi.
Peggy was employed by Hancock Field (New York) Credit Union, Aristocuts Hair Salon in Colorado Springs, and was the “Cookie Lady” at Albertsons in Colorado Springs. She raised two children and accompanied her husband on his 30-year United States Air Force career around the United States, Germany and Taiwan. She and C.C. also spent 19 winters living in Texas.
She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Colorado Springs and was an active member of Ruhamah Temple #71 Daughters of the Nile and Centennial Chapter #58 Order of Eastern Star. She also served as Secretary of the Al Kaly Shrine Band-Aids.
Peggy loved to play bingo and was known as a “bingo shark” where she resided at Summit Glen. She loved her coffee and enjoyed going to Starbucks and sitting outside. Peggy also enjoyed watching Clint Eastwood movies and was a member of the Al Jolson Society.
She is survived by her children: Kenneth M. Kelly and Toni L. Autry (Scot); two grandchildren: Jeremy M. Kelly and Emily A. K. Koonce and a brother; Robert Coshun. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and a daughter, Kathleen Blaise Kelly.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2022 at First Southern Baptist Church, 1409 Palmer Park Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80909. Private inurnment will be at Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Gate of Heaven.
