Margaret Van Etten
June 21, 1927 – May 17, 2013
Margaret, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at a local hospice on May 17, 2013.
Margaret was born on June 21, 1927 in Germany to Wilhelmina and Karl. She immigrated to the United States in the late 1950s. She came to Colorado Springs and decided to call it home.
It was in Colorado Springs, that she met and married the love of her life, Ross Van Etten. They were joined in marriage on October 27, 1966.
Margaret worked for many years as a quality control specialist for both Emerson and Ampex Electronics. She also ran her own home daycare center for 20 years.
Margaret was an accomplished seamstress. She made custom ordered draperies for people in Colorado Springs. She was also an avid reader, who loved books. Margaret belonged to a bowling league for many years. She displayed her sportsmanship and talent with the Bowl-More-Or-Less League.
Margaret was preceded in death by her both her parents and her siblings.
She is survived by her loving husband Ross; son, Henry Cossou and wife, Dawn; daughter, Connie; granddaughters, Loren, Victoria, and Chrissy; and grandsons Michael and James.
A Memorial Service, celebrating her life will be held at the Shrine of Remembrance at 10:00 a.m. on May 28, 2013. A reception will be held immediately after the service at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975S South Union Boulevard.
