Maria Lopez passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021. She worked at Penrose Hospital providing care and smiles to all whom she interacted with.
Maria was born on March 17, 1965, to Jesus R. and Santos Lopez in Lubbock, Texas. Two months later the family moved to Colorado Springs, where she has resided ever since.
She loved her family, music, and cooking. The joy of her life was her grandkids. Maria was known for her generosity and love she had for everyone around her. Maria was a kindhearted individual who always sought to provide for her family and friends.
Maria was preceded in death by her father, Jesus R. Lopez. She is survived by her husband, Porfirio Torres; her mother, Santos Lopez; her three sons: Anthony Lopez, Michael Lopez, and Fernando Lopez and wife Terza Lopez; her daughter, Sonya Lopez, and her husband, Adam Collins; five brothers: Jesse Lopez, Aniceto Lopez, Lorenzo Lopez, Roel Lopez, Noe Lopez; three sisters: Tevita (Ralph) Grimaldo, Verada Stitt, Antonia (Adan) Lopez; her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at Shrine of Remembrance. A Chapel service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expr., Colorado Springs, CO 80913.
