Marie A. Kregel
Marie A. Kregel, a resident of Colorado Springs for 25 years, passed away peacefully with family at her side on March 29, 2013.
Marie was born on August 23, 1923 in Duquesne, Pennsylvania to William A. and Margaret (Gruber) Meister. In 1946 she met and married the love of her life, a youthful Lt. Victor R. Kregel. They were married for 65 exhilarating years. As the wife of an Air Force Officer, Marie resided in many exciting locations, including Germany and England. Although she cried when she first saw the coal-fired cook stove in her ancient British house in Nottingham, she considered England one of her favorite sojourns.
She is survived by two sons: Victor W. Kregel, and Timothy J. (wife, Andrea) Kregel; and a daughter, Kathleen M. (husband, James Smith) Kregel. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, and her siblings.
A devout Catholic, Marie carefully guided her children through college, graduate school and various war zones with nothing but her rosary and a direct connection to the Lord above. To her sons and daughter, she was an extraordinary confidant, great listener and sage advisor. To her friends she was loyal, kind and true. To her husband, Marie was truly the “wind beneath his wings.” Much to the lifelong enjoyment of her family and many friends, Marie was nothing short of miraculous when it came to preparing heavenly meals and desserts.
A memorial service will be held for Marie at 10 AM on Friday, April 26, 2013, at the Shrine of Remembrance Chapel. Inurnment will take place at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum.
Memorials in Marie’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Colorado, 455 Sherman Street, Suite 500, Denver, CO 80203.
