Marie Firestone, age 87, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1971 and formerly of Fort Worth, Texas and Dover, Pennsylvania passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014 at a local care center. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, friend and the consummate homemaker of the 1950s. She was also an Avon Representative for over 10 years.

Virginia Marie Hardt was born on March 27, 1926 in Falling Waters, West Virginia to the late Howard and Lucy (Kline) Hardt. She was a 1944 graduate of Martinsburg High School in West Virginia and attended Houghton College. She married Merl B. Firestone on November 9, 1946 in Hagerstown, Maryland. Marie enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, gardening and especially enjoyed raising her children.

She is survived by her loving husband, Merl; her son: Dr. Stephen (and Rebecca) Firestone of Trout Creek, Montana; and her daughter: Elaine Firestone (and her fiancé: John Bobbitt) of Colorado Springs.

She is also survived by her grandsons: Jason (and Jessica) Firestone of Lakewood, Colorado and Seth Firestone of Almont, Colorado. She has a brother: Raymond (and Carolyn) Hardt of Falling Waters, West Virginia and a sister: Peggy Hoover of York, Pennsylvania who also survive. She was preceded in death by a brother: Arthur Hardt and a sister: Kathryn Gordon.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 7, 2014 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Entombment will follow at the Garden of Angels Mausoleum. A reception will then be held at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 S. Union Boulevard.
