Marilyn Kay McNamara
Kay passed away on Friday, July 11, 2014, surrounded by love. She was born to Harvey and Lola Nichols in Colorado Springs, and lived in Colorado her whole life. She graduated from Palmer High School and attended Western State College in Gunnison. After graduating, she returned to Colorado Springs and taught in Harrison School District # 2 for 27 years, retiring in 1994.
She married Bill McNamara in 1989 and spent 24 wonderful years with him.
Kay enjoyed spending time with family and friends, travelling, reading and cooking. She was a very special woman who touched the lives of anyone who knew her, and will be remembered for her special kindness and compassion, her sense of humor, and unbelievable will.
Kay is survived by her children: Nancy Medina (Danny), and Renee Crawford; her brother, Keith Nichols; her brother-in-law, Frank McNamara; 3 grandchildren: Danielle, Hannah and Josh Medina; 1 great-grandchild, Arianna Medina; 1 nephew, Kevin Nichols (Kelly); and 2 great-nieces, Bailey and Madison Nichols. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a nephew.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 18 at 2:00 p.m. at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful†Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, to be followed by a reception at the Elk’s Lodge 309, 3400 North Nevada Avenue.
