Marilyn “Lynn” (Haug) Mermer
Marilyn Mermer passed away at home on September 22, 2014 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born in Irvington, New Jersey on March 27, 1935 to Walter and Doris (James) Haug. She was an IHS graduate of 1952. She spent many summers on the Jersey Shore with her family, and lived in both Union and Whiting, NJ before moving to Colorado in 2000.
A secretary in the business sector for many years, Marilyn became a home health aide in 1997 and continued in that field until retiring in December 2012.
“Lynn” was captivated by history, loved the mountains and the ocean, and was a true believer that ‘laughter is the best medicine’. Lynn cherished the connection to her lifelong friends from New Jersey and her new-found pals, The Domino Dolls. She will be remembered for her crazy antics, love of dancing, silly sense of humor and kind heart. Foremost, Lynn was devoted to her family and enjoyed sharing stories of precious memories.
Preceded in death by her husband Richard Sr., and her son-in-law Rick Dominguez, she is survived by her son Richard (Susan) Mermer of Florida, her daughter Lori Dominguez of Colorado, her sister Wendy (Santi) Venanzini of New Jersey, and her grandchildren Rylan and Nathan Mermer.
For those who wish to do so, donations may be made in Marilyn’s memory to Pikes Peak Hospice, The Zay House, or to another charity of choice.
A private service will be held to celebrate Marilyn’s life.
