June 7, 1953 – December 8, 2021
Mark Alan Thayer, a Colorado Springs resident since 1975, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021.
Mark was born on June 7, 1953 to Paul E Thayer, Jr. and Barbara W Thayer in Willimantic, Connecticut. He grew up in Warren, Massachusetts and proudly served his country in the United States Army, including National Guard for over 20 years. He completed his Bachelors from UCCS in Business Administration while juggling adulthood and being the father of 3 busy boys. Mark spent many years driving semi-truck delivering goods all over the country, while educating others on how to drive.
The way he died is just like he lived: he wrote his own rules, he fought authority and he paved his own way. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, including many memorable trips to Sturgis. He spent many hours driving his Corvette. He enjoyed catching a cold one with his friends while debating on the latest news release and never turned down a BBQ invite. Mark also enjoyed RVing in Montana where he could spend time with family and catching fish.
He is survived by 3 sons: Marshall Pomeroy (JoEllen), Michael Pomeroy, and Joel Thayer (Kaleena); his sister, Jane Drolet (Kevin); 6 grandchildren: Stephanie Pomeroy, Elliott Pomeroy, Sydney Pomeroy, Matthew Bass, Aaron Thayer, and Cheyenne (Mix) Hurst; and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Mark was a strong, proud and good man. He is loved and will be missed by many!
