Mark F. Gettner
May 19, 1957 – February 15, 2013
On February 15, 2013 Mark F. Gettner, a man of true and great happiness, was taken to a far better place to be with the Lord.
Mark Gettner was in the military as a surveyor for 3 years active service, and the reserves for 12 years, before becoming a talented local upholsterer here in the Springs and surrounding areas for over 28 years – a passion he passed along to his daughter. We have all learned great lessons from him. He was a hard worker and an even harder-working father. He loved nothing more than cooking and being goofy with his family. Family times were filled with cooking, music, football, politics, target-shooting and random mountain adventures.
Mark was a very happy and kind-hearted man that will be truly missed by so many for years to come. His family wishes him the best in his new world and even greater happiness. Keep on smiling!
Mark F. Gettner leaves behind, to carry on his memories, two beautiful daughters and a handsome grandson. His oldest daughter, Amanda Wempe, son-in-law, Luke Wempe, and grandson Spencer Wempe. His youngest daughter and sidekick, Laura Gettner, daughter-in-law, Amy Olive. He also leaves behind two brothers: Carl and Steven; one sister, Rhonda; a brother-in-law, Kevin Degenkolbe; an ex-wife, Paula Degenkolbe; and family from home. He excitedly is starting a new adventure with his granddaughter Riley!
Dad, we will miss you so much, we love you dearly. Thank you for the life you gave all of us.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home.
