Martha Marie Everett Vaughn, age 93, a resident of Colorado Springs since 2004 and previously of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Owasso, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at the Gentle Care House in Colorado Springs. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother who had worked for many years as a bookkeeper at the First National Bank at Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Martha Everett was born on May 21, 1919 in Lamar, Colorado to the late Roy and Maggie (Piercy) Everett. She graduated high school in 1937 in Vaughn, Arkansas and attended John Brown University. She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Owasso, Oklahoma and had attended the Wilson United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs. She married Elmo S. Vaughn on September 12, 1937 in Ojai, California.
Martha enjoyed sewing, traveling, spending time with her family, and especially her beloved grandchildren.
This woman of faith is survived by her two children: Everett (wife, Suzie) Vaughn of Colorado Springs and Barbara (husband, Don) Stewart of Lake Charles, Louisiana. She is also survived by five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Vaughn was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo in 1999; two infant brothers; and an infant great-granddaughter.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 on Friday, August 17, 2012 at Graceland Cemetery, 12150 East 96th Street North #201, Owasso, Oklahoma 74055.
