Mary Ann Modrell, aged 86, passed away on April 13, 2019. She was a long-time resident of Colorado Springs. She was a beloved mother and grandmother.
Mary was born in Kansas to Elsie and Christian Bieber. She moved to Denver after high school with her sister, Vietta, to work for the airlines. She met a handsome Air Force service member at an NCO dance. They were married for 60 years.
Mary worked as the guidance counselor secretary at Cheyenne Mountain High School for many years. She retired and together with her husband started a business called Rocky Mountain Bird Cabins, where they traveled to craft fairs and enjoyed meeting people.
Mary’s greatest joy beyond her family were the adventures she shared with her husband. She enjoyed traveling, skiing, and working in her flower garden. Mary also enjoyed volunteering with a variety of organizations.
Mary is survived by her 3 children: Susan and husband Bob Warren, Brenda and her husband Dan Bartlett, and Ben Jr. She also loved her 5 grandchildren: Derek, Logan, Staci, Kelsie, and Jake.
An informal open house to celebrate Mary’s life will be held at her daughter Brenda’s residence on April 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.
