Mary Edna Soares passed away peacefully in the Lord’s arms at the young age of 87, at Morningstar memory care unit in Colorado Springs on January 21st, 2018.
Mary was born to Frank and Emma Ver Snyder on April 20th, 1930, in Lake Leelanau, Michigan. Mary attended and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1949. Mary went on to further her education in the medical field, studying to be a nurse and X-ray technician. While in school she met her husband, John and they were married at St. Mary’s of Assumption Catholic Church in Michigan on August 2, 1952. In this union, they became proud parents of David & Katherine in 1959 & 1960. In 1961 the family moved to Duluth, Minnesota, where Mary was a stay-at-home mother until David and Katherine began attending school. With Mary’s love of helping others, she returned to her profession of nursing. The family then moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1977 where she began her position at a private practice until her retirement in July 1996. Mary had two wonderful grandsons, Steven & John. She loved watching her grandsons play sports and was involved in anything they were doing. Mary was an avid gardener specifically with her rose bushes, which were her favorite. Mary’s first love was the Lord above, being a lifelong devoted Catholic, she attended mass every Sunday. Mary will always be remembered for her passion for others and her infectious smile.
