Mary GodseyMrs. Mary Godsey, 95, went to be with her Lord on October 4, 2018. She was a long-time resident of Colorado Springs.

Mary was born on September 20, 1923 to Sam Joseph and Madeline J. (Assaf) Masid in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She was the eldest of 6 children. She married Charles Wallace Godsey Sr., traveling to Michigan, Texas and the Philippines, before he retired as captain in the United States Air Force.

Mary studied fashion at Woodbury College in Los Angeles, California.  She returned to Colorado as a model and salesperson for Neusteter’s. She worked at exclusive dress shops, such as Lillie Ruben’s and Gray Rose, where she specialized in high fashion. On her days off, you could find Mary at the Broadmoor Hotel socializing with friends and dancing the night away.

She is survived by her son, Charles Wallace Godsey Jr., her siblings Maxine Cohoes and James Masid, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Captain Charles Wallace Godsey Sr. and her daughter, Karen Sue Godsey.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Tuesday, October 16 at 10:00 a.m. at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, CO 80910. A private inurnment will be held at the Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
