Mary Lou Shipps, age 76, passed away on July 3rd, 2020. She was a lifetime resident of Colorado Springs. She was an X-Ray Technician and retired from Memorial Hospital.
Mary Lou was born on December 29, 1943 to John B. O’Neal and Marion (Feeley) O’Neal in Denver, CO. On January 9, 1965 she married Donald Glenn Shipps at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Colorado Springs.
Mary Lou was first and foremost dedicated to her children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader of mystery and crime novels and was a staunch supporter of the Denver Broncos. She attended Palmer High School, graduated in 1962 and became a Registered X-Ray Technician through the St. Francis Hospital training program.
She is survived by her children: Debbie, Karol and Robby, her sister: Marion Mason and grandchildren: Tyler, Tommy, Tanner, Emma and Ethan. She was preceded in death by her husband Don and her parents Marion and “Shorty” O’ Neal.
Due to COVID travel concerns and group gatherings, the family has created an online memorial until an in-person “Old Fashioned Irish Wake “ (as Mary Lou would say) can occur in the forest where all the fondest family members occurred. There her ashes will be united with Don’s and her mom’s and scattered, knowing they are together watching over us all. All family and friends are encouraged to visit this online celebration of life at: https://www.mykeeper.com/profile/MaryLouShipps/ to learn more and please offer photos, memories, stories to build a full picture of her well-loved life.
