Maurine Sorensen, 93, passed away on July 25, 2014. She was a resident of Pueblo for five years and was formerly a resident of Colorado Springs, CO for about 50 years. She worked at Duckwalls for a time then became a full time homemaker.
Maurine was born on Feb. 14, 1921 to Leslie F. Fuqua and Mary Alice (Hand) Fuqua in Luling, Texas. On August 26, 1945, she married Eugene W. Sorensen in San Antonio, Texas.
Maurine was an artist in her younger years. She had several oil paintings that she painted and hung in the home she resided in for 50 years. She also enjoyed her flowers and hummingbirds.
She is survived by son, E. Ron (Donna) Sorensen; her grandchildren: Aron J. (Heather) Holm and Chelsea A. (Holm)(Mark) Hilderbrand ; and her great-grandchildren: Justin and Cory Holm and Myers Hilderbrand; a sister, Lilian (Fuqua) Clary : and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Eugene W. Sorensen; daughter Rita E. (Sorensen) Holm; her parents and 5 siblings, Kurtly, Raymond, David, Pat and Betty.
A Cyrptside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2014 at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home Mausoleum, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO.
