Michael Adam Markus, 47, was born at 9:40 a.m.  February 18, 1977, and died at 1:06 a.m. July 2, 2024 in his home with his wife and best friend by his side.

Mike was born and raised in CA. He played football, basketball and enjoyed surfing and skateboarding. He was an avid BMXer and took an interest in cooking.

In 2000 Mike moved to CO and met his wife, Diane, in 2001. Choosing to be child-free, they built a life together based on fun! With everything the beautiful state of CO has to offer, they got out and enjoyed it at every opportunity. Dirt bike riding, hunting, fishing, concerts at Red Rocks, riding trails in the Polaris side-by-side, golfing, gardening, and most often rock crawling with friends. A hobby born in a friend’s garage in the early 2000s, rock crawling became the favored activity spanning 20 years. Cooking became a staple as well. Food was definitely Mike’s love language. One of his greatest joys was watching someone eat and savor his meals. If you were lucky enough to have attended a family gathering, you know!

Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Monique “Nikki” Vanderwel (Markus); and his stepfather, Lawrence “Larry” Gombos.

Mike is survived by his wife, Diane Skiba; mother, Irene Gombos (Markus/Lozano); father, Hans Markus; and sister, Danielle “Dani” Markus.

Services will be held at Shrine of Remembrance Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 2 pm, 1730 E Fountain Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80910.
